Two former Memorial Hermann Executives Form Healthcare Advisory Group, Relia Healthcare Advisors, to Offer Proven Solutions for Healthcare Leaders.
Michael Shabot, MD, FACS, FCCM, FACMI and Rod Brace, Ph.D., have announced the formation of Relia Healthcare Advisors to provide high-reliability organizational consulting and related executive leadership development services to healthcare systems. The two recently-retired senior executives from the Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston, Texas will lead a team of advisors who will help today’s healthcare executives meet the unique and complex challenges they face on a daily basis.
Dr. Michael Shabot is the former Executive Vice President and System Chief Clinical Officer at Memorial Hermann Health System, while Dr. Rod Brace is the former Regional President and Chief Learning Officer. The Memorial Hermann Health System includes 17 hospitals, 20 ambulatory surgical centers and 300 ambulatory sites with private, employed and academic medical groups totaling 6,500 physicians and an Accountable Care Organization (ACO).
Dr. Shabot is the former chairman of Memorial Hermann’s ACO Board, which from 2013-2015 generated the highest annual savings the CMS Medicare Shared Savings Program has recorded, totaling $200 million. Under his leadership, Memorial Hermann received the John M. Eisenberg Award for patient safety and quality at the national level. He currently serves as Adjunct Professor at the UTHealth School of Biomedical Informatics and UTHealth School of Public Health. Dr. Shabot also serves on the Board Quality Committee of the Mercy System in St. Louis, Mo., and the faculty of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
During his 20 years with the Memorial Hermann Health System, Dr. Brace served in key operational positions ranging from system regional president to hospital Chief Executive Officer. He is currently a faculty member at the University of Alabama – Birmingham in the Master of Healthcare Quality and Safety program. Dr. Brace is also an executive coach, national speaker and author who holds an MBA and Ph.D. in management with research focus on employee engagement, organizational design and leadership. He also serves on the faculty of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
